Does the treatment hurt?
No. You may feel uncomfortable at times during the treatment as trapped gas and impacted faecal matter make their way out of the body. This uncomfortable feeling is similar to mild period pain or the feeling you get when nature calls. |

How is a Colonic administered?
Water under very low pressure and controlled temperature is slowly introduced into the colon by a trained therapist. In combination with massage techniques, the water helps to soften and detach faecal matter and encrusted deposits, which are piped away with the waste water. |

How long does it take?
The first treatment is approximately 1.5 hours. This includes a full consultation with your therapist prior to the treatment taking place. The actual treatment time usually lasts up to an hour, with the average being around 45 minutes. Each follow up treatment will be approximately 1 hour. |

Is any preparation necessary?
No. However we do recommend you eat lightly following the treatment. Alcohol & spicy foods should also be avoided for 48 hours after the treatment. You can speak to your colonic therapist for advice about a dietary program to follow with your course of colonic therapy. |

How will I feel after the treatment, can I continue with my normal day?
Yes. Most people report feeling light and energetic following a treatment and there is
no reason why you cannot continue with your day as normal. Should you need to go to the toilet later in the day of the treatment you will still experience the call of nature and do not need to worry that you will be caught out and left with no warning. On occasion, if there has been a longstanding condition of constipation or health problems, a slight headache or fatigue may be experienced with the first or second colonic. This will not last more than 24 hours and we recommend a short rest to help reduce these symptoms. |

Will I lose weight?
The treatment itself will not make you lose weight, however it is very successful weight loss tool when used as a kick start to healthy living and lifestyle changes. |

Is it safe?
Yes. All equipment used is disposable, and all hard surfaces are disinfected after each client to ensure no chance of cross-contamination.
Filtered water is fed into the colon under extremely low pressure (far lower than is typically seen during normal defecation) ensuring there will be minimal discomfort and importantly no danger of bowel perforation. |

I’ve heard that colonics take the good and bad bacteria from the gut. Is this true?
The removal of good bacteria from the colon during colon hydrotherapy presents no problem as these propagate back to normal levels within a few days. In fact by removing old impacted faecal matter and mucoid plaque, which are food sources for 'unfriendly' bacteria, colonics actually enhance the spread of friendly bacteria in the bowel. |

Why have Colonic Hydrotherapy?
Colonics are not habit forming, unlike chemical laxatives. So-called natural laxatives may also be habit forming. Chemical laxatives kill off nerve sensors in the bowel walls which lead to poor transit time & increased toxicity. Colonics do not lead to a 'lazy' bowel, but in fact help to improve bowel muscle tone and normalise its size and capacity. This is achieved by helping the bowel to restore normal peristalsis (movement) by exercising the bowel. It is after all a muscular organ which needs to be used in order for it to maintain healthy function. |

Will one colonic completely empty the colon?
Almost never. Many of us have a considerable amount of impacted faeces in our colon and substantial work must be done to remove it. There is a learning process involved in receiving colonics. As you become more aware of what is going on in your digestive system and enter the cleansing experience with an opened & clearer mind, you will find that more material is released during the treatment. A single colonic will remove some of the stagnant waste in the colon, but second and subsequent colonics will remove more. |

How many treatments are necessary?
It is different for everyone. It depends on the state of your bowel health including the amount of encrustation and toxicity, and on what you wish to achieve with colonic hydrotherapy.
A course of between three and six treatments is usually sufficient to cleanse the bowel and help restore bowel function; this of course in most cases needs to accompany lifestyle in diet changes. Some patients will require further treatments depending on the severity of their condition. Ongoing preventative treatment once or twice a year is advisable to maintain gastro-intestinal and general health. Your therapist will be able to recommend a course of treatment after your first colonic. |
